Mums Cottage Pie
My mums cottage pie is so good, I thought I'd share her recipe with you.
Mums Cottage Pie

Heat the oil in a large heavy-based saucepan. Add the onion and garlic and cook until soft. Add the meat and allow to brown.

Add the purée, tomatoes, stock cube, Worcester sauce and ‘The Truckle Cheese Co’ Onion Marmalade . Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper then cook on a slow heat for about 20 minutes.

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C (350°F) Gas Mark

Meanwhile, cook potatoes in boiling salted water until soft. Drain and mash with the butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Place the meat in a large ovenproof dish. Top with the grated Cheddar cheese.

Finish with the mashed potato. Fork over and dot with a little butter.

Place in the pre-heated oven for 20 minutes.

Remove from the oven and place under a hot grill for about 3 minutes until brown and crispy.
1 onion (finely chopped)
1 clove garlic (crushed)
500g Lean Beef or Lamb Mince
2 tsp tomato purée
1 x 400g can tomatoes
1 beef stock cube
2 tsp Worcester sauce
2 tsp ‘The Truckle Cheese Co' Onion Marmalade
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
600g potatoes, peeled and halved
25g Creamy Butter
1 tbsp Fresh Whole Milk
50g ‘The Truckle Cheese Co’ Vintage Mature Cheddar Cheese
